Volunteer Firefighters Needed
The
Fire Department is looking for Volunteer Firefighters!
To become a member, you simply need to contact
an existing member (contact the Town Office,
345-3305 for information), or show up at the
Fire Department (Central Station) on a meeting
night. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday
of the month at 7 P.M. We train on the third
Tuesday of the month. Training of some degree
is required, depending upon the level of service
you wish to provide to the town. We are happy
to arrange this training for you as it becomes
available. In some cases, training can be done "in
house."
The Town of Minot's walking
trails are open!
These
trails are for non-motorized recreation, including
walking, biking, snowshoeing and cross-country
skiing. The trails meander through the town owned
land between the Minot Consolidated School ,
new ball fields, old ball fields and town office.

School Consolidation
Under the new State law, communities are being
required to reduce administration expenses
by combining school districts and eliminating
administrative staff.
Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland, a school
union for many years, was slated for a marriage
with MSAD 15, Gray and New Gloucester to become
R.S.U. (Regional School Unit) 45. That has
now changed and the Department of Education
has granted an exception that would allow Mechanic
Falls, Minot and Poland the ability to form
their own RSU.
Extensive planning is currently underway by
many committees that are looking at Governance,
Finance, Programs and Curriculum, Special Education,
District Wide Services such as Transportation,
Technology and Food Services. Each of the committees
has been tasked to find savings as part of
the proposed consolidation.
Members of each community will have an opportunity
to vote in future months on the proposed consolidation
and subsequent budget proposals for the new
RSU.

The Town Office has new Thursday hours!
The Town Office will now be open on Thursdays
from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. |
