Minot Fire Department
Welcome to the Minot Fire & Rescue Department!
The Minot Municipal Fire Department, with its Rescue division was established by a vote of the Town at the annual Town meeting in 1999. The was accomplished by blending the existing West Minot Fire Company and the First Responders of Minot into one entity by means of an ordinance.
The Fire Department is governed by the Selectmen. They in turn appoint a Chief. The Chief is recommended by the West Minot Fire Company, which now serves as a fraternal like body of the Fire Department. Stephen French is the current Chief. He has held this position since 1985. The West Minot Fire Company also votes to recommend two deputy Chiefs; they are Norman Gurshick and Dean Campbell. All other officers are appointed by the Chief and his officers.
The Rescue Division is lead by a Chief of Services. This title is recognized by the state as the person in charge of the rescue services of a municipality. Currently James Allen holds this position. There is also a deputy Rescue Chief. This position is held by Scott Davis.
While all members are members of the Fire Department, not all members are firefighters. We have members who are only Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and some are both.
To become a member, you simply need to contact an existing member or show up on a meeting night. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 P.M. We train on the third Tuesday of the month. Training of some degree is required, depending upon the level of service you wish to provide to the town. We are happy to arrange this training for you as it becomes available. In some cases, training can be done "in house."

ENGINE #1 - A 1982 International Harvester cab and chassis with a Middlesex fire apparatus body. It has a 1,000 gallon per minute pump and a 750 gallon tank.
RESCUE #7 is an ambulance type vehicle on a 1985 GMC that carries our rescue equipment and can serve as our command vehicle as needed. We are not licensed to transport patients, however.
ENGINE #8 is a 1996 Navistar 4 door cab and chassis with a Central States built fire apparatus. This pumper has a 1,250 gallon per minute pump and a 1,000 gallon tank, and foam capabilities.
TRUCK #5 is a 2001 GMC 4 wheel drive Forestry truck with a skid tank and pump in the back and foam capabilities. This tank is removed in the winter months so the truck can transport our "rescueboggin". This truck was received through a FEMA grant.
TANK #3 is a 2001 Navistar cab and chassis with a Metalfab body. The tank, while principally a tanker carrying 2,000 gallons of water, has a 500 gallon per minute pump, foam capabilities, ladders and a complete hose load to sustain fire suppression until a pumper arrives.
ENGINE #2 (IN PRODUCTION) due to be delivered late fall of 2006. It will be a 10 wheel Navistar cab and chassis and Metalfab body. It will carry 2,500 gallons of water, pump 1,250 gallons per minute, have foam capabilities, and carry plenty of hose and equipment.
Our CASCADE TRAILER carries our air station to replenish the breathing air for our Scott Brand breathing apparatus. We received this trailer and 12 air packs with our second FEMA grant.
We also have a PORTABLE RESTROOM that was donated by G.A. Downing. This unit has proved very useful on many occasions.
