Solid Waste Disposal/Recycling

Household trash (solid waste), recyclable materials and bulky waste items may all be brought to Mid Maine Waste Action in Auburn . The following is the address and hours of operation:

All Minot residents must have a current Waste Disposal Permit attached to the window of their vehicle in order to dispose of any materials at MMWAC. Permits are available at the Minot Town Office, 329 Woodman Hill Rd. for $2.00 per permit. A separate permit must be affixed to every vehicle that uses the Mid Maine Waste Action Facility. The permit is necessary since Minot pays the disposal cost with tax dollars and it helps us insure that only Minot residents use this Town-funded service.

Minot Residents are no longer required to weigh up at the scale house for the disposal of bagged household trash. Upon entering the gates at MMWAC, drive to the transfer station area. The trash container is marked. Residents who have bulky waste materials to dispose of, will still be required to weigh separately at the scale house, prior to disposal of the bulky wastes.

Residents may recycle the following items in the City of Auburn 's Recycling Truck that is located at MMWAC's Transfer Station.

Refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, must have the Freon remove by an authorized refrigerant person, and the item must be properly tagged before it is accepted by MMAC at no charge. Maine Metal Recycling, Washington Ave. , Auburn , will accept the items for a fee if the Freon has not been removed: $15.00 - Refrigerators & Freezers; $25.00 - Air Conditioners.

The Waste Oil must be clean - no water, gas, or contaminants.

Universal Wastes

Televisions Sets and computer monitors are considered “Universal Wastes” and now fall under new State Laws for recycling.  Mid Maine Waste Action will no longer accept these items for disposal with the bulky waste items; however, the Auburn Public Works Department will accept them for recycling.

To dispose of these items:  Go to the Minot Town Office to pay the $5.00 fee per television set or computer monitor (this is the fee that we will pay to Auburn ).  Bring your receipt and monitors and t.v. sets to the Auburn Public Works Department (Highway Garage) on Gracelawn Rd. in Auburn .  Go to the Office with your receipt and you will be directed to the area for the Universal Waste Recycling.  Thank you for your patience with this new process.
